Delighting Audiences of 30,000+ Annually

The San Diego Chorus reaches audiences totally over 30,000 annually through local, regional and international performances at popular venues like Seaport Village, Balboa Park, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and many more. Chorus membership includes lots opportunities designed to grow and strengthen your vocal skills, boost confidence and develop leadership through practice and performance.
Time Investment
MONTHLY
  • We rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:45 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.
  • Our singers support musical growth with weekly practice and by arriving at rehearsals and performances vocally warmed up.
  • Once a month we offer early choreography sessions that begin at 6 p.m. before rehearsal.

A FEW TIMES A YEAR
  • Sectionals and Duet Sectionals are planned during show and competition preparation cycles.
  • Twice a year the Chorus hosts a “Recharge Weekend” of in-depth vocal / visual coaching with a Guest Director.
  • Major performances typically include our Annual Show, a Holiday Show and Balboa Park’s December Nights.

SPECIAL EVENTS & OPPORTUNITIES
  • Region 21 Chorus and Quartet Competition takes place annually. Our participation in International Competition runs on a 2-year cycle and is based on Regional results.
  • Throughout the year, singers have special performance opportunities like double quartets, media appearances and singing Valentines. These are optional.
  • If you're excited by a cappella harmony, you may also choose to pursue singing with a practice, performance or competitive quartet.
  • Regional and International Educational opportunities and events are available throughout the year and are optional.​

​Establishing an effective personal practice routine and schedule will help you grow as a musician and prepare your San Diego Chorus repertoire.

SECTION ​DEVELOPMENT

Your section leader will share details about quarterly and special section rehearsals, as well as offering notes to guide areas of practice and emphasis.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

​Members of the San Diego Chorus receive a free Private Vocal Instruction session with Master Director Kathleen Hansen. Additional PVI opportunities available.
SINGER TOOLS

The San Diego Chorus has a Members-only website and App to make music and practice tools easy to access. Plus we'll introduce you to a host of singer resources like TE Tuner and more.

Regional and International Competition

As a member of Sweet Adelines International and Region 21 Golden West, the San Diego Chorus  typically travels to participate in both regional and international competitions on a rotating annual and biannual basis. Competitive Quartets associated with the San Diego Chorus also have multiple opportunities to compete at regional and international levels.
