Chorus management team

Member-Powered Leadership

As a volunteer-powered organization, members of the San Diego Chorus Management Team are elected for two-year terms by the members of the San Diego Chorus. These essential leaders guide Chorus business strategy, finance, operations, membership, fundraising, events and marketing.

Pam Murray

TEAM COORDINATOR

​Pam became a Sweet Adeline in 2016, joining the San Diego Chorus as a baritone. She has been singing and performing in various singing groups and musical theater since the age of 4. Pam graduated from UCSD with a major in Drama and a minor in Music, Vocal Performance. With over a 30 year background in corporate leadership, global supply chain, procurement, contracting and entertainment management, she is putting those skills to work in Sweet Adelines. Pam also plays guitar and sings baritone in So Noted Quartet.

Kathleen Hansen

MASTER DIRECTOR

Kathleen joined the San Diego Chapter of Sweet Adelines in 2000. Introduced to barbershop by watching top-level quartets and choruses, Kathleen has since rooted her experiences with Sweet Adelines in elevated expectations that are reflected in her drive to challenge the chorus and herself for the highest quality performances. In 2015, she was awarded Master Director status after directing the San Diego Chorus on the International stage, and she has directed the chorus to first place in subsequent Regional competitions.  

Cindy McAdams

FINANCE COORDINATOR

Cindy joined the San Diego Chorus in 2010 as a new Sweet Adeline. Her entrepreneurial background in banking and retail has given her well-rounded skills. Serving initially as Business Development Coordinator in 2012, Cindy later took on th
e role of Finance Coordinator. As a lover of numbers, spreadsheets and Quickbooks comes as naturally as sight-reading music to Cindy.  She loves to perform and sings bass in the chorus and Jukebox Quartet and in small group performances.

Andrea Chertkow

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

​Andrea is new to Sweet Adelines, joining the San Diego Chorus in 2019 singing bass. Her background has been in instrumental music, playing clarinet and piano while in school. Andrea graduated from UCSD with a major in Management Science. She is a Senior Tax Content Analyst with Intuit and an Enrolled Agent. Singing with the San Diego Chorus gives her a much needed creative release to a life otherwise consumed with tax law and regulations.

Diane Thornewell

EVENTS COORDINATOR

Diane joined Sweet Adelines in 1993, singing lead and then bass in the Potomac Harmony Chorus in Arlington, VA. Diane worked as a Contracting Officer for the Department of the Navy and transferred to San Diego in 1997. She has served in chorus administration for over 18 of the 25 years she has been a Sweet Adelines Member. During that time she has held the roles of Secretary, Finance Chair and Membership Chair.

Marina Hayden

MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

Marina joined the San Diego Chorus in 1993 as a bass. Marina is a member of the Front Row and serves as the front row coordinator.  She also is the Chorus Coach Coordinator and takes wonderful care of the many talented coaches that help make our chorus better.  Marina proudly sings bass in SoloVoce quartet, who recently won 4th place in the 2019 Region 21 competition.  Marina was honored as Sweet Adeline of the Year 2015 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.

Amy Overton-Buck

SECRETARY

​Amy joined the San Diego Chorus in 2016 singing baritone. Amy sang in high school and college choruses and musical theater. She majored in music (voice) in college for 3 years then changed her major to Early Childhood Education. After a 36 year career as an elementary school teacher she decided to enrich her retirement by singing again.  This is her first time to be in chorus administration and she is enjoying being CMT secretary.

Mary Sue Garcia

PERFORMANCE COORDINATOR

Mary Sue Garcia  joined the San Diego Chorus in 2019 after a move from Northern California and sings Bass. Mary Sue is a past Bay Area Sweet Adeline of the Year and performed and competed with her top ten San Jose based quartet, 2MileRadius. Mary Sue taught blind, visually impaired and autistic children for 30 years in Palo Alto and San Mateo County. Mary Sue relocated to San Diego in 2018 and recently accepted the role of Events Coordinator for the San Diego Chorus.
